MikroTik FTC21-UPS Smart Fiber-to-Copper Converter
Smart weatherproof (IP67) Fiber-to-Copper conversion with built-in power resilience – because you deserve some stability in your life!
Fiber is fast. Fiber is reliable. Until the power starts misbehaving.
At the network edge, it is rarely the fiber that fails. It is unstable power, brownouts, short outages, and voltage drops that trigger renegotiations, device reboots, and unnecessary support tickets. The FTC21-ups is built to save you some major headaches when dealing with unreliable power sources.
Not just a converter
The FTC21 is not just a simple media converter. It runs a full version of SwOS Lite, offering advanced management features:
• Interface monitoring and management
• VLAN support
• SNMP reporting
• Basic traffic shaping
• Advanced packet filtering with Access Control Lists - allowing for packet filtering, accounting, and VLAN tagging based on Layer 2, 3, and 4 protocol header conditions.
Built-in batteries
What makes the FTC21-ups different is what happens when power becomes unstable. Inside, there is a pair of Li-Ion NCA 18650 batteries. Not for running your network all night, but for surviving short outages, brownouts, and those moments when everything almost crashes. It keeps the link up when the power is flickering, preventing unnecessary device renegotiation.
The battery is intelligently managed:
• Inactive during shipping;
• Activated on first power-up;
• Can be put into ship mode remotely via SwOS when necessary.
Real-world battery runtime examples (20 °C)
Estimated from measured battery behavior. Actual runtime depends on load and temperature.
FTC21-ups standalone, interface & traffic ~6 h
Cube 60Pro ~13 W 45–55 min
LHG 5 ~5–7 W 1–2 h
SXT LTE7 kit ~3 W ~3.5 h
Flexible powering
The FTC21-ups gives you:
• 2 DC inputs – PoE-in and DC jack
• PoE-in (802.3af/at), 48–57 V
• DC jack input 24–57 V
On Ether2, you also get Passive PoE-out with a selectable voltage of 24 or 48 V via the hardware switch. You will see clear LED indicators for power, PoE-in, Ethernet activity, and SFP activity, so you always know what is happening.
FTC21-ups is all about predictable behavior at the network edge, when power is the least predictable part of the system. You probably already have enough stress in your life. Let the FTC21-ups take some of it away!
